The Three Rivers Winter Ensemble Association's mission is to provide a unique performance environment. The Association operates under a set of guidelines that provide the participants with a healthy competitive atmosphere. The central element of these guidelines is the understanding that the education of the performer, teacher, and adjudication will lead to a better system of showcasing Wester Pennsylvania's local pageantry talents.

The units are comprised of both Scholastic and Independent organizations. These units compete in a variety of competitive classes, based on the age, experience, and skill level of the performers.

Color Guards, Dance Teams, Majorette Twirlers, Mixed Ensembles, and Percussion Units perform in TRWEA-sanctioned performance contests.
